I recently raised my maturity status by achieving a few markers of adulthood. I got married. I bought an apartment. I finished graduate school. And I found a job that I really like. As a responsible adult, my wife and I bought grown up furniture (non-Ikea), amicably share holidays with our families (Thanksgiving in New Jersey and Christmas in Georgia), and contribute to joint savings and investment accounts (bucketing separate monies for trips, a future house and retirement). I considered myself generally established as a 30-something professional, married to a 30-something professional, with the means to modestly live in the heart of a city and enjoy the benefits of having dual income and no kids. A DINK life. Read more of this post at From DINK to Dad.
